Matthew Goes to China April 3 - 20, 2006 Shanghai. When we arrived it was raining again. Along Nanjing Road there is a fountain where everyone gets their picture taken. Mommy and Grandma, too. Then Daddy came and someone turned off the fountain. Nanjing Road is a big shopping area and Mommy and Grandma spent most of their time there. We went to the Bund to see the famous view of Pudong, but I couldn't see anything. Daddy says he couldn't see anything either. Then everybody went shopping again. As did everybody in China it seems. Buildings are very tall in Shanghai. On the inside, too. And we ate Chinese food again. In the day time people kept approaching Daddy to sell him watches, bags, or DVDs. He was approached 18 times walking Nanjing Road from the New World Department Store to the Bund and back. At night time Daddy went back to Nanjing Road and took photos. This time the same people approached him to offer him a lady. On our last day Mommy and Grandma wanted to visited the famous Jade Buddha Temple. Mommy prayed. I waited. Then we went back to the Bund to see the famous view. But it was very cold. And then we went to Yangshuo May 25 All text and photographs © 1998 - 2006 Gordon Sharpless.
